Email and SSL

During recent server upgrades, we changed some SSL settings (now using Lets Encrypt), meaning some users may see SSL errors when trying to send or receive email, like: “cannot verify server identity”, or “domain name doesn’t match certificate”.

This is due to some users trying to use SSL in the email client (e.g. Outlook/Thunderbird), but still using their own customised domain name as the mail server, like, and these domains are not enabled for SSL certificates.
